Mosaic, Basilica di Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, Ravenna

Ravenna was the seat of the Byzantine government in Italy. Several basilicas were erected during this time during the 6th and 7ths centuries. These churches were decorated with beautiful mosaics that have survived to today.
